Doll Type: Iplehouse
SE (Real Skin w/UV protection) Luo
Customizations: Has beast parts and pipos large
"cat" ears to make him a werewolf.
Name: Caleb Arcadi (Faithful/Bold
Dog of Arcadia)
Race: Werewolf
Age: 256 years - looks to be around 30-35
Gender: Male
Birthday: Nov. 3
Zodiac: Scorpio
Eyes: Hazel, sometimes golden
Hair: Short-Medium length, cream/medium blonde
Likes: sitting in front of the TV and being lazy
when he can get the chance, ladies, good food and drinks, finishing projects,
kids, grilling, hunting, family oriented events/themes
Dislikes: health nuts, having too many "jobs"
at once, paperwork, dumb/ignorant people, people BS'n him, hates cruelty
and injustice, liars, any harm or danger to loved ones
Favorite Foods: any alcohol as long as it doesn't
taste too sweet (but may drink it if desperate for some alcohol), most
meats, junk food, coffee (and lots of it!), pasta,
he's actually not that picky for the most part. Does have a sweet tooth.
Least Favorite Foods: what he considers "rabbit"
food, smoothies (unless it's a hangover "cure"), and the only
time he'll tolerate vegetation is if it'll include meats and lots of it.
Personality: When he's on the job, he's quite
serious and gets things done. When he's not working, he can actually
be
somewhat goofy/good humored and flirtatious if the mood suites him. Despite
his flirtatious nature at times, he can actually be pretty serious about
a female he has a strong interest in. He's easy to anger but doesn't
tend show it in front of people. He has intense emotions, but he keeps
it controlled
outwardly for the most part, so most people don't really know what he's
thinking/feeling. He sometimes go as far as to act the opposite of what
he's actually feeling. This leaves people to thinking he's either very
detached, indifferent or somewhat of an oddball. Has strong sense for
family and is great with kids, especially his own or ones he feels protective
over. Kind of gets easily manipulated by them. Tends to be a marshmallow
against those
he
hold
in
higher emotional value.
History: He has a mostly greek heritage, with
some norse and italian in the mix. In his "younger" days, he's been
a somewhat adventurous fellow, but once he matured he became more "mellow",
so to speak, and wanted to settled down.
He currently works as a detective
that deals with unusual cases. Such may include things that are unexplained
to the supernatural. He seems to originate from New York, or at least
has lived there for quite some time. His weapon of choice is daggers/knives,
he know how to handle firearms, but prefers not to use them.
He has
two
daughters from a previous mate who has died giving birth to the younger
of the two. His mate was from one of the arctic wolf packs and she did
not handle the warmer environment as well as Caleb's pack did. His pack
leaders decided
to pair the two up in order to strengthen and create a bond between the
clans, but it was later found that she had some health issues that made
her more fragile, thus her not handling the warm temperature as well.
The hope of the artic pack was to have her mated with a strong mate,
so
that
her offsprings will be stronger. Caleb cared very much for her and never
complained, even going as far as to have them move to someplace colder,
yet tolerable. They both had wanted a good litter of pups, but with her
condition it was very hard to reproduce and to give birth. With the "first
litter", there was originally four children and all born premature,
but only one survived and that was Caleb's older daughter. Both grief
stricken, they hadn't considered trying for another chance for a long
time, content at the time to be lucky enough to have one.
Caleb, though
wanting lots of children, decided they shouldn't try for anymore, because
of her health. But still grieving in her heart for her lost children,
she wanted to try for more. In time with newer and better health treament,
they decided to try again and she became pregnant with just one child
pup. Taking great caution, they
did everything
they
could
to
make sure things are good for the baby. Again, the birthing was difficult
for her, but it came down to choosing her life or her baby's. Not
being
able to stand the thought of her offspring dying before her again, she
chose her baby to live, despite Caleb's protest. And in the end, that's
how it went, she died not long after delivery of their second child.
Caleb was in mourning for quite awhile, feeling guilty for allowing her
to go through that again. He loved his second daughter no less, but
it
was painful for him to remember the circumstance. So much of the time
he's been somewhat distant from her, at first. Leaving his elder daughter
to care for her mostly with the rest of the family.
Having such difficulties in having his two daughters, he became a somewhat
over protective father. Especially since he's had a lot of dealings with
the world in a less "sugar-coated" manner. He tries not to be, but many
times he can't help himself, but fortunately, in most
cases
it
was
justified.
He never
felt
too worried about his eldest as she is very responsible and also had
no real interest in getting into any trouble, very much like her mother.
His only concern with her is when trouble looks for her. His younger
daughter, on the other hand, tends to act more like him in
his younger days, being too wild, rebellious and adventurous. He almost
dreads how she'll be like when she hits her teens as she already seems
to be looking for some kind of trouble, if unintentionally.
Current Storyline:
He has recently let it be known that he's a werewolf since there's a
member in the "family" that is consider "related"
to one of his natural prey. He wouldn't harm the new tenant, of course,
but wanted to give everyone else the heads up incase things get a bit
awkward. He, in fact, has taken Dyani under his "wing" so to
speak, because she so timid and mild, he feels protective over her.
With
her sweet/innocent nature and timidness, he couldn't help but feel the
need to protect her.
In his perspective of the current neighboring tenant, Ariana, he was
quite smitten with her looks and then her proper "southern hospitality".
He's eager to learn and understand more about her, and the current position
of his "job" enables such things to be possible. He finds that
some of her habits or routines are normally things that bug him and
they
often do irritate him, but he couldn't help but be charmed by her more
sweeter nature at the same time. Sometimes he's having a hard time figuring
if he actually "likes" her more than a friend or not. Considering
his position and Ariana's status with the circumstance, he has to remind
himself to keep things respectable, as her lady has strong and powerful
ties to his family.
Recently, he's discovered that his youngest daughter has left the safety
and care of their clan's "den", for which he wasn't too happy
about. If it wasn't for the fact that his daughter became upset over
a
misunderstanding, he would've lectured her about her running away from
home and send her off immediately. Once she's been calmed, he explained
the situation. Afterwards,
he went to contact the others that she is safely with him. Originally
he wanted to make plans to transfer her back, but at her insistence
and
stubbornness, he decided to let her stay with him (especially since Ariana
offered to watch out for her when he can't). So he charged her to help
Ariana out with Dyani in their business, though he worries she'll only
try to cause mischief for Ariana. Sometimes he has to get on to her
about
messing with Dyani, too, because he's concerned about Dyani's more delicate
nature.
About the race/clan:
Werewolves have a long history of legends and stories, but few know that
there are various types of werewolves. Each with their own unique
traits,
but all have one thing in common is that they all have a very strong
tie to wolves somehow. He is part of one of the oldest werewolf clans
currently
existing. Essentially considered the "youngest" of the oldest
clans, they have a life span on average of around 500-600 years (give
or take a century) and don't start to show signs of old age until the
last several decades of their life. His clan is usually traditionalists,
but also adapt to every "modern" conveniences, more so easily
than other older clans. This is believed to be so because their average
life span is shorter than most other "older" clans.
Though there are some "clans" that are very close to a human's
life span, most of them aren't viewed as "pure breed", as
most like that are not born from pureblood, but made or are crossbred
with
humans or other weres. Children born from humans and werewolves are rare
and usually when such children are born from such a pair, the child
will
either be able to shapeshift or not at all. Even rarer is that such children
are born with birth defects, stuck between forms. About half of the
known
"packs" would normally kill off offsprings born with defects,
whether it's mixed breed or not.
In Caleb's pack it's a last resort,
though
with modern technology and medicine, such decisions have been blessfully
unnecessary as much, as circumstances would have to be pretty extreme
for that decision to be made. Most other packs follow this route, but
some still hold that tradition strong, believing that a strong bloodline
is necessary.
Caleb's "pack" are consider one of the more noble clans, as
they are known for being passionate and patriotic to honor and justice
and are often employed in the medical, military, judicial or law enforcement.
They are a pack that's very family oriented and have a strong hierarchy
system. For the most part they are very territorial, and aren't normally
open to outsiders, aside from business relations. Only exception would
be to adopt children/young ones that have no family or protection. They
are like most other clans in that they are monogamous with their mates,
but aren't exactly "mated for life" unless special circumstances
are met. Should a mate die before their time, they are free to seek
another
life mate. The only exception to the rule is if they went further and
bonded on a deeper level, performing the ritual "soul bond". In such
cases, should one mate die, the other
will soon follow. Generally this is rarely done, because children tend
to be involved in the picture and even though the pack members would
take
over the care, it is best if a parent is still around to take part in
raising them.
They are a very hearty group and are generally very healthy. Disease
does not normally effect them. The main concern would be on a genetic
level
in the mates they choose to have children with. Normally, within their
"first" mating, the families pair the couple up. As mentioned,
should something happen to the mate, the other is free to choose his/her
own next mate. Should they take mates that are outside their kind, the
rest of the family may either be accepting or resenting. Varies from
family
group to group, usually it's a combination of the two. The ones resenting
the coupling may at times test the resolve of the "outsider",
if they pass they may be accepted, but in some cases they may never
be
accepted.
For the most part, the clan members, especially ones who can't
or have trouble conceiving children, tend to want to take in children,
within or from outside their clan/species. Children brought up in a wolf
pack that are not of their blood will get equal treatment until they
reach
adulthood, if they want to make a higher status for themselves and wish
to have a mate within the pack they will be tested and be made to prove
themselves worthy. That's when things get a tad touche'. The adopting
parents would be supportive, of course, but it all depends on the alphas
of the pack. The Alpha has the all say in things, unless challenged and
defeated by a challenger.
Like most werewolves, Caleb's clan has strength, stamina, short bursts
of near super speed, and also a keen sense of smell and hearing. Despite
myth, pure breed werewolves aren't effected by silver in the manner legend
tells, as essentially, true werewolves were never human and have only
evolved to shapeshifting and being highly adaptable (concept is similar
to the theory that apes are distantly related to humans). Although werewolves
that were "made" have been known to have a reaction to silver,
because it is believed that because their basic genes are still human,
that the wolf genetics are somewhat unstable on a molecular level when
combined in a body that is not wolf based. Basically when a human is made
into a werewolf, the "genetics" or more specifically the enzyme
of the werewolf attaches itself to the human's DNA strands, sending signals
to the cells and causing the body to adapt itself to being able to switch
it's function and shape, but because it only attaches itself and not fuse,
it is possible for a reversal effect. Silver is a natural anti-bacterial
alloy, although the enzyme isn't exactly a bacteria, when silver comes
in contact with them, it causes a slight reaction making them unable to
"hide" itself from the body's natural defenses. In essence,
it causes the enzyme to become recognized as a foreign anti-body, therefore
the body tries to repel it. Unfortunately, this can be fairly harmful
to the host depending on their sensitivity.
Strangely enough, the gene rarely effects actual normal wolves the same
way as it does to humans. It's believed that since most wolf "clans"
are originally wolves that their bodies react differently than a human's.
So a wolf that has been "made" into a werewolf, won't have quite the
same
effect as a human made into one.
