Kind of a wallflower and does not like conflict. Likes to be helpful and

History: She came to her new home
in hopes of fulfilling her duty as helper. She adores her new lady that
she serves, but is nervous around Caleb. At first, she didn't understand
why until he explain what he is. And of course, she panicked because he's
one of the races that are considered "natural" enemies to her
people. She's been told of some tales of carnivorous weres, that have
hunted and eaten their people in the past. Caleb assures her that not
all carnivore weres have a habit of hunting and eating her type of people
(sentient beings particularly), but it doesn't completely put her at ease
because even regular deers are considered distant cousins (kind of like
how primates are considered distantly "related" to humans).
For the most part, she is very timid around him, despite him trying to
seem as nonthreatening as possible.
Not too long after she has settled in her new home that a new person
arrives on the scene. It has been found that this new person is a child
named
Luna and is Caleb's youngest daughter no less. At first she's not sure
what to think of her, but eventually she befriends her, somewhat timidly,
and lets her boss and lead her around since she doesn't want to create
conflict. It becomes a sort of odd friendship. She's always worrying
about
getting into trouble whenever Luna wants to go on her "adventures",
so she tries to keep her in check without much success. Despite her
unease
of Caleb, she does like/respect him as he's not given her reason to be
concerned. She also notes, even though he hasn't said anything, that
he
likes her mistress. Liking harmony, she always tries to keep everything
in balance with everything and everyone around her. Luna, however, doesn't
seem to want that, and has dragged her into situations she doesn't want
to be in at times. She feels guilty when Caleb get protective of her
because
she can see Luna getting upset over it, so she tries to be extra nice
and cheer her up, but it never seems to work her way.
About the race/clan: She is from a race of deerfolk
from the wintry forest of the Sugar Bread Mountains. Their particular
race age fairly fast within a few months and are very quick learners,
but remain childlike in appearance for most of their lives until they
reach about 100 years, as then they start to age and will seek to produce
offspring and from that point they live up to 300 years at the most. They
are fairly reclusive and peaceful creatures and tend not to travel far
from their home grounds, both stable and migrating. Most will never even
be seen when going through their forest homes unless one knows how to
bring them out. At most one may see faint glimpses or occasionally hear
sounds of movement. They strongly believe in and are very in tuned with
the balance of nature and love being around natural surroundings. They
are a herbivores and believe the consumption of flesh to be a sin for
their people, but they will not ridicule other races for it because
it is the way of nature to have carnivores, herbavores and omnivores in
the food chain. Despite their youthful and delicate appearances, they
are a fairly hearty race and can deal with tougher situations than expected.
Despite their somewhat animal-like appearance, they are not considered
weres but a form of anthros, because their particular group does not shapeshift
normally, unless they are powerful shamans. Shamans are a highly honored
class, for they are most in tuned with nature and can call upon and wield
it's powers. Shamans are usually made their spiritual leaders and remain
with the clan, once they complete their journey, to provide guidance.
The path of the shaman is a very difficult one, for it requires that one
that is gifted with the essence of nature to first study what the current
shaman knows and then to go out into the world alone for many years to
learn and become strong. If they survive the time, they return to their
clan to become the next or one of the spiritual leaders.
For the most part, their people have always been employed for either helper
or guardian. The females are usually more timid and gentle in nature and
are made into helpers, while the males are a bit more aggressive and have
a more heartier nature and are suitable to be guardians. But not everyone
can be helpers or guardians and they are not always gender specific. Only
a select few are born into it and it is usually decided by the timing
of the birth. For when one seeks a helper/guardian from their people,
they believe if they are meant to offer their services then a child will
be born. Normally it's soon after the request is made, but on rare occasions
it can be before the request was made if a child is born soon before the
request. If there is to be no children born within a time, then the request
is denied. The one other factor that confirms that the child is meant
for such a path is that their horns are transparent and shimmering. Once
the horns have grown enough, a band of precious metals are set at it's
base, as a sign of their destiny.
